HERMANN HESSE: BOOKCOVER dESIGN

This is a series of book covers that represent lifetime work of Hermann Hesse. Hesse is a Swiss-German writer best known for his highly conceptual and dreamlike prose. There is a common theme across Hesse's work: a person's struggle to reach self-authenticity between worlds of good and evil. The cover designs were approached with minimal abstract patterns derived from graphic works of Marc Nagtzaam and Les Graphiquants. These are double layered covers that partially obscure each book's title, reflecting the author's symbolic approach in his writing.

The titles of the covers are the following: Beneath The Wheel, Demian, Siddhartha, Steppenwolf, and The Glass Bead Game.
